Wine Folly: Shiraz found in Barossa, the southern part of australia is the epitome of Shiraz wine, Many vines in that region are over 100 years old and its the only part in australia that guarantees wine lables old vine to be at least 35years or older. Shiraz wine from this region has notes of Blackberrym dried currant, mocha, tobacco and clay pot.(pg 441). It is the most planted grape in Australia, the wine pairs well with darker meats and exotic spices, Lamb shawarma or gyros are an excelent pairing for this wine. It should be decanted for 60+minutes and it can be stored in the cellar from 5-15 years. This wine is a Full bodied red, that should be rich, powerful and sometimes meaty. (pg 379).

My Review: The wine was a dark ruby color, very fruity, and had notes of blackberry, It was acidic but very well balanced to the point where the acid was not overwhelming. It had a full body and ended with a smooth dry finish. I could not get the spice notes or the cherry oak but overall the wine was really good. I personally would recommend this wine.
